About Thornbury Choral Society

We are a non-auditioned choir bringing quality concerts to our community.

Thornbury Choral Society grew out of Thornbury Music Club and Choir founded in 1963. Our conductor, Steven Kings, joined us in September 2005. The Society’s main concerts, usually with full orchestra, are held in May and November. Performances in recent years have included works by composers as varied as Bach, Bernstein, Britten, Elgar, Carl Orff, Mozart, Tippett, Kurt Weill, Verdi and Vivaldi.  For more information about our history, please visit our history page.

Competent singers are always welcome to join the Society and membership is increasing again after the pandemic. If you would like to try us out at a couple of rehearsals, they are on Monday nights at 8pm at Thornbury URC, or if you would like more information please contact the Chairman or Secretary. Their email addresses are below in the footer.  There are no auditions required.

Thornbury Choral Society is a registered charity no. 277013 and is a member of Making Music which provides support to the choir.
